Prep for Service. Remove Baffle Filters. Wrap the Hoods.

1. Prepare the Kitchen

We will begin by shutting off any sources of fire or gas, such as oven pilot lights and gas. We will then shield your appliances from grease splatter and cleaning agents through tarping. We will remove baffle filters for easy access to ductwork and set them aside for cleaning through pressure washing or a bath in a degreaser. Finally, every vent canopy will be covered in plastic, and cleaning fluid will be funneled down into a container for easy disposal.

Spray, Rinse, Repeat. Scrape the Ducts. Wash the Roof.

2. Start at the Fans

We start at the top and scrape excess grease and debris from the ducts, followed by spraying degreaser over the fan system. We follow this by a spray with heated pressure washing and repeat until nothing is left. We will finish by inspecting your exhaust fan for necessary maintenance and replacing the belt if necessary. Before leaving, we will pressure wash the area around the exhaust fan and clean up, so we leave no mess for you.

Clean the Hood. Install the Baffle Filters. Dry and Polish the Hood

3. Finish at the Hoods

The kitchen hoods are cleaned similarly to the rooftop. We will scrape of stuck-on grease and debris, followed by a shower of degreaser and heated pressure washing. Once the entire vent system is cleaned and the baffle filters have cleaned and reinstalled, our service technicians will completely dry the canopy to prepare it for polish. We will leave your vents shining by polishing the canopy inside and out.

Inspect the System. Mop the Floors. Apply Certification Sticker.

4. Inspection & Clean-up

After the cleaning is finished, the team supervisor will inspect the system. This will check over all our work and ensure nothing was missed. Our team will ensure the grease is appropriately disposed of, and if necessary, we will take it with us. We will clean up around our work area to ensure no grease or debris is left behind. Finally, we will apply the certification sticker to your kitchen hood. This sticker is required by law and will list the local agents. These include your insurance agent, the local health department inspector, and the fire inspector. Finally, it will mark the next scheduled cleaning date.

Frequently Asked Hood Cleaning Service Questions

Why should I clean my system?

Every year, more than 11,000 structure fires are reported by restaurants, bars, and similar businesses. This leads to average property damage of $164.4 million in direct property damage. The most common starting place for these fires is the cooking area, which can then take hold in the exhaust system. Regular maintenance and proper access panels can prevent costly fires and reduce your liability.

Regular maintenance of your kitchen exhaust can create a safe and pleasant working environment for staff that is cleaner, cooler, and safer. This will not only reduce the risk of fire but also increase productivity.

Pac West Pros has been providing its customers with NFPA compliant cleanings for decades. We know how important a properly maintained kitchen exhaust is to your business. We will ensure that your system is safe from fires and compliant with all industry standards.

What meets fire safety code?

The National Fire Protection Agency publishes “NFPA-96 codes and standards.” This is the primary source of rules providing preventative and operative procedures for fire safety. These rules are to reduce the risk of fires in commercial cooking facilities. These rules state that commercial kitchens must provide regular cleaning of their kitchen exhaust systems and provides standards for fire safety.

These rules cover all commercial cooking facilities, no matter the kind. This could include, among many more, high schools, jails, prisons, retirement homes, higher education facilities, hospitals, military bases, theaters, sports stadiums, amusement parks, truck stops, bowling allies, and corner stores. If it has a commercial cooking area, it is covered by NFPA-96 rules.

How much does a typical vent hood cleaning cost?

There are too many variables to provide an estimate without seeing the facility. Depending on the size of the system, fans, and connected structures, the price could be considerably different. It will also depend on the current state of cleaning.

So, Pac West Pros is willing to offer free estimates. Our technicians can come to your place of business and inspect your system to determine a price. Our personalized quote will be good for your system for two weeks or until we do the cleaning.

How long does it take to clean a system?
The time it takes is entirely dependent on your system. A small singlestory vent hood and fan will typically take about three hours. But, a dirty or complex system, such as additional fans, hoods, or multiple stories, can necessitate a day or more of work.
If your crew is here after closing, how will they lock up when they are finished?
You can relax knowing Pac West Pros is a fully bonded and insured company. Our service technicians are screened through both background checks and drug testing. They will follow any and all instructions to lock up and engage any security systems, so your facility will be just the way you left it, only cleaner.

Access panels are central to a fire safety system. This is because we cannot access the interior of your system for cleaning without them

Baffle filters provide a physical blockade from fires spreading up into your exhaust system. This first line of defense against kitchen fires must be properly cleaned and maintained. If this filter is damaged, it must be immediately replaced.

Your exhaust fan is the central feature of any kitchen vent system. Regular inspection and replacement of fan belts will help prevent disruption and keep your kitchen cooler.

Exhaust Fan Hinge Kits are essential for protecting your up-blast fans and your employees.

  • Safety: This kit helps protect workers as well as preventing damage to your roof. Removing an exhaust fan is a dangerous process for someone not professionally trained. It can also damage your roof.
  • Wiring: Installing an exhaust fan hinge kit also protects your wiring from the damage that can occur during maintenance and cleaning,
  • Exhaust Fan: The kit also protects the fan itself, since repeatedly removing the fan for cleaning can cause damage.
  • Roof: It is common to place the exhaust fan on the roof during cleaning, and this can damage the roof. With the hinge kit, this becomes unnecessary.
  • Cleanliness: The exhaust fan hinge kit makes cleaning easier, so you may clean more frequently.

Pac West Pros offers outdoor power washing for your business. Power washing is safe and effective because it allows us a choice of tips, ensuring we can thoroughly clean your surfaces without damage. Power washing also uses heated water, which helps kill bacteria, making your establishment more sanitary and reducing repair costs due to mold or mildew.

Also, power washing usually involves no chemicals, so you don’t need to worry about nearby surfaces getting contaminated. You also won’t need to worry about chemicals seeping into your water supply.

A grease containment system helps protect your roof by keeping grease off. Factory up-blast fans and industrial set fans aren’t enough to adequately protect your roof from grease damage like a containment system can.

Pac West Pros can provide your business with a grease containment system that will protect your roof while reducing the risk of fires. This will save you money in the long run by reducing repair costs and possibly insurance costs as well.

At Pac West Pros, we know every business is different. Therefore, we customize your grease containment system to your business’s needs. We have many different prices and sizes, so we are sure we can find the best system for your business.
